TAHITI TO AUSTRALIA VIA TONGA AND FIJI: OVERVIEW |
|
Whether you select the 80 or 66-day Voyage, this program offers a huge experience to sail aboard S/Y Argo, 112-foot schooner from Tahitian waters in the Tropical South Pacific across the Pacific Ocean to Cairns, Australia.
The voyage offers a full compliment of academics that can be tailored to the specific needs of each student. Additionally this voyage will prove to be an exciting travel adventure that emphasizes blue-water sailing skills development, SCUBA diving training and cultural exploration.
Sail training certifications for this voyage are issued through International Yacht Training, as IYT offers the only global standard in professional yachting certifications. Students have the opportunity to progress up to the level of Master of Yachts 200 Ton based on past experience and aptitude. SCUBA training will be done within the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) training regime and certifications up to and including Divemaster are possible based on past experience.
Once underway, there are no passengers on this voyage! With over 4000 miles to cover in a relatively short time, much of the program will be spent at sea, with shipmates and staff rotating through the responsibilities of life aboard, each a part of the working crew. Between passages, we will be making landfall in a number of diverse locations, and our time near shore will be spent exploring the local area and cultures, SCUBA diving and restocking the vessel so she is ready for sea once more.
